1. Prescription Glasses

1.1 When placing an order through our website, you must ensure that any orders placed are correct. If unsure on how to place an order, contact our retail support team via our contact form or visit your local Oscar Wylee store.

1.2 You can place an order either in-store or online using an existing prescription from Oscar Wylee or an outside optometrist. The prescription must not have expired, must record your full name and the prescribing optometrist's contact information, and must be for optical glasses and not for contact lenses.

1.3 When placing your order online, you must enter your PD (pupillary distance). This can be obtained from your existing optometrist or by visiting one of our stores.

1.4 If a frame that you want to order is not available online, this means that it is currently out of stock at our lab and will be restocked shortly. Restock dates vary so we will be unable to estimate when the frame may be back in stock.

1.5 All orders for prescription glasses are final and Oscar Wylee is not liable for any errors made when entering your prescription information if placing an order online. Once an order has been placed, either in-store or online, Oscar Wylee will immediately take steps and incur costs filling the order so, subject to any applicable New Zealand legislation, orders cannot be amended or cancelled. If you have an issue with your order, contact the store purchased from or our retail support team via our contact form.

1.6 For prescription sunglass orders placed on our website, you are unable to modify the lens colour. If you would like a different lens colour or finish on the lenses, you will need to visit one of our stores so they can place the order for you. This may incur an additional cost as this will be considered a custom order from our lab.

1.7 Once your order is placed, you will receive a confirmation email with the selected frame details. Please review and contact a member of the team immediately if you have any questions.


2. Non-Prescription Glasses

2.1 All non-prescription orders placed on our website, come from our warehouse where the lenses are pre-cut. For non-prescription sunglasses, you are unable to modify the lens colour. If you would like a different lens colour or finish on the lenses, you will need to visit one of our stores so they can place the order for you. This may incur an additional cost as this will be considered a custom order from our lab. For non-prescription items, we offer exchanges within 14 days of being received, provided that the items are in satisfactory condition with no damage or adjustments.

2.2 If a custom order is placed (i.e non-prescription but lens extras such as coatings or a different colour tint for the sunglasses), no exchange or refund is possible unless required under applicable New Zealand legislation.


3. Warranties/Exchanges/Refunds

3.1 In addition to the rights under the applicable New Zealand legislation, you are entitled to a replacement for a major failure or fault with the frames or lenses within 1 year of purchase. You are also entitled to have the goods, including the frames or lenses, repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality within this 1-year period. This does not include being due to incorrect options selected when ordering or change of mind. We do not provide cover for mistreatment or general wear and tear over time.

3.2 We recommend that all our half-rim styles are purchased with our Thin & Light, 1.6 index lenses or above. Any orders with standard lenses that chip or crack will not be covered by Oscar Wylee's standard lens replacement warranty.

3.3 There may be slight variations in the fit of each frame. If the fit is not perfect when you receive it, we'll help you adjust it to your face at any of our stores.

3.4 Since each pair of glasses is customised based on your prescription, we cannot offer any exchange or refund for change of mind on prescription items. If the prescription provided from an external optometrist is incorrect or if the prescription is no longer valid, purchasers agree that Oscar Wylee is not responsible for the cost of the remake and are not liable for any indirect or consequential losses.

3.5 Our warranty does not cover any damage caused by modifications made to the frame.

3.6 Our warranty does not cover damage caused to the lenses by misuse. This includes scratches caused by dropping them or crazing to the lenses due to being left in high temperatures.

3.7 Our warranty policy is in addition to applicable New Zealand legislation which cannot be limited or excluded. Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under applicable New Zealand legislation. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.


4. Special Offers

(a) Our Two Pairs from $249 offer

4.1 Our two pairs of glasses from $249 offer includes clear optical glasses with standard single vision lenses only. Our standard single vision lenses are CR 39, 1.5 index lenses with scratch resistance. You can upgrade to prescription sunglasses for an additional cost per pair.

4.2 Our two pairs from $249 is only available per person and cannot be split between two people. Only one prescription can be used per offer. If you have a distance and a reading prescription, this is included in the offer as this is considered to be one prescription. Any prescriptions must have the full name of the person claiming and a valid expiry date to be able to order. If you have two different current prescriptions, you will need to visit a store to be eligible for our Two Pairs from $249 offer.

(b) Our Three Pair Deal

4.3 Our three pairs of glasses from $299 offer includes clear optical glasses with standard single vision lenses only. Our standard single vision lenses are CR 39, 1.5 index lenses with scratch resistance. You can upgrade to prescription sunglasses for an additional cost per pair.

4.4 Our Three Pair Deal is only available per person and cannot be split between two people. Only one prescription can be used per offer. If you have a distance and a reading prescription, this is included in the offer as this is considered to be one prescription. Any prescriptions must have the full name of the person claiming and a valid expiry date to be able to order. If you have two different current prescriptions, you will need to visit a store to be eligible for our Three Pair Deal.


5. Optometrist Prescriptions

5.1 You can book an appointment through our website or by contacting one of our stores. If you take your prescription to an external optometrist to have lenses made and are unhappy with the results, Oscar Wylee is not liable for any cost to change the lenses.

5.2 If you bring an external prescription to Oscar Wylee to have lenses made and are unhappy with the results, Oscar Wylee is not liable for any cost to change the lenses. All external prescriptions must not have expired and must have your full name and the full name of the prescribing optometrist.

5.3 We may use your details to remind you of your appointment and for clinical recall purposes when you confirm your booking through the Oscar Wylee website or stores and for other reasons set out in our privacy policy.


6. International Orders

6.1 When you order from one of our stores or online, we can ship internationally for a flat fee of $30 NZD.

6.2 Different countries have different customs fees. Oscar Wylee is not liable to cover the cost of any customs fees or taxes. We are unable to modify the total cost of your order to avoid or minimise customs fees. It is a good idea to contact your local customs office before placing an order so you are not subject to any unexpected charges. If you wish to refuse your delivery, you will still be responsible for the original customs fees or import duties and the cost of returning the package to Oscar Wylee. If the fees exceed the amount of your order including shipping costs, the parcel will be destroyed and you will not be refunded.


7. Processing Time

7.1 Orders generally take around 7-10 business days for processing and to be shipped out but delays may occur which are outside Oscar Wylee’s control. Once your order has been sent, please allow 3-10 days for postage. If collecting in store, a member of the team will be in touch once the glasses have passed our quality control checks and are ready to be collected.


8. Current offers and promotions

8.1 Oscar Wylee reserves the right to stop any current offers at any time and without warning. All prices are in New Zealand Dollars. From time to time, Oscar Wylee may offer a newsletter, or product or service information updates. By accepting these Terms, you consent to Oscar Wylee using your email address to send you our newsletters or product information.


9. Website issues

9.1 We try and keep our website as up to date as possible. If you have any issues using our website, this could be because of cookies in your web browser. We recommend you clear the cache and cookies of your browser and try again. If you are still having issues with our site, please contact our support via our contact form.


10. Health fund claiming

10.1 Only prescription items are claimable through a private health insurer.

10.2 You can claim on a private health fund towards part or the full cost of the frames and lenses. The total amount of claimable depends on your level of cover and allowance. We are only allowed to claim based on the information generated by private health funds and cannot alter amounts to increase or decrease amounts claimable.

10.3 Some health funds cover lens extras including hi-index upgrades or lens coatings but this depends on the level of cover.

10.4 For non-prescription frames with lens coatings or add-ons, we are unable to provide item codes as these are not claimable from a private health fund provider through Oscar Wylee.

10.5 Oscar Wylee reserves the right to apply a discount to the frame and/or lens in an order.


11. Liability

11.1 You must take reasonable care to use Oscar Wylee products carefully and safely and not negligently, and must ensure that if you are ordering products for use by a minor, that the minor uses the products, including any additional components supplied with the products, similarly.  To the maximum extent permitted by law, Oscar Wylee excludes all liability for loss or damage suffered by you, or a minor under your control, that is caused by any intentional act or omission of yours or any improper use of the products.


12. Free Multifocal Lenses Offer

12.1 Where you are taking up Oscar Wylee’s Free Multifocal Lenses offer, you acknowledge that:

(a) Standard frames and lenses pricing applies;

(b) Offer only applies when you purchase 1 pair of optical glasses; and

(c) The offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other deal, discount, or promotional offer.


13. Other Information

13.1 Oscar Wylee reserves the right to send customers and patients electronic, print, or other material that contains health information, promotional information, or other related information, subject to the terms of our Privacy Policy.

13.2 By creating an account, placing an order, or confirming an eye test booking either in-store or online, you agree to the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy and to receiving marketing communications from Oscar Wylee.



Oscar Wylee reserves the right to update and revise these terms and conditions at any time.
